Jeremy Pringle -
Wine Will Eat Itself
Hand-picked from 75-80 year old dry-grown vines, with notes of lemon and lime. A little different to the 2005
Karra Yerta Wines Eden Valley Riesling in it's own way but still a taste
sensation in its own right.
The winemaker was Simon Adams of Rocland Estate Wines, who was contracted to make it to our specifications. Simon has had extensive experience in the wine industry including at Cellarmasters (Fosters) and he was also head winemaker at S. Smith & Sons, (Yalumba) where he was responsible for the Heggies and Pewsey Vale labels.
Jesse Lewis - Good Drop
"I was sent two samples from Karra
Yerta back in July. The 2010 was very enjoyable, and I’m impressed by
the poise of this one with four years’ extra bottle age.
Riesling purity with aromas of lime, orange blossom and slate. There’s a
touch of toasty wafer from bottle age. An occasional note of kerosene
crops up. The palate is spicier than I expected it to be; a trait which
works well again the brazen lime and stone character. Noticeable palate
weight and grip too (considering the variety). A suggestion of apple pie
finishes off what is an enjoyable semi-aged Riesling. A top match for
roast pork with crackling, I’d be willing to bet.
Very Good –
